Roberto Nascimento

Born in Brazil, Roberto is a mix of Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and indigenous Brazilian. A passionate filmmaker, LGBTQIA+ stories are extremely important to him - as a queer latinx man, positive representation is very close to his heart. Roberto created and directed 3 seasons of "Sui Generis" (2017-2022), an anthology series about queer love in all its multifaceted shapes and forms. The show won 15 international awards, including Best Director, Best LGBTQIA Series, Best Representation of Queer Communities, and he was nominated for a NZTV Award as Best Director (2023). After living in Aotearoa, New Zealand, for 20 years, Roberto now resides in Sydney, Australia. He is working on his first feature film, based on his short film "Boyfriend" (2022) -nominated for the prestigious Iris Prize Award in the UK (2023) - and developing other film and TV projects.
