I caught The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest on some late-night rerun a while back and it kinda pulled me in all over again. Hanna-Barbera put this one out in 96, right when they were messing around with mixing 2D characters over early CGI backgrounds, and it shows. The stories jump from ancient ruins full of laser traps to underwater labs with mutant sea monsters, and it never feels like they're holding back. Jonny's still the reckless kid leading the charge, but now he's got Jessie along, which adds this fun tension since she's just as tough and smart as the guys. Hadji's hacking skills and Race Bannon's fists handle the rest, while Dr. Quest keeps the science side grounded, sort of.
What I like is how the show leans into that 90s vibe of high-tech gadgets mixed with straight-up weirdness, like psychic powers or time rifts. Some episodes drag a bit with the explanations, but the action sequences hit hard and the voice acting feels natural, not overdone. I remember one where they chase a glowing artifact through a volcano and it stuck with me for days. It wasn't perfect, the animation glitches here and there, but that raw energy makes it stand out from the usual Saturday morning stuff. If you're into old adventure cartoons with a bit of edge, this one's worth digging up.
