In late 1800s London, Sherlock Holmes is a consulting detective who wields not only powers of observation and deduction but vast knowledge on anything relevant to solve mysteries, including crimes. Cases that would stump most other detectives are short work for him. He is ably assisted by his friend Dr John H. Watson.
